Me
Born in 1992, I was a product of the rising technology. In my youth, the internet was still in its infancy, and I got to experience all the fun quarks people make memes about today. I still remember the groans of the children when mom got a call from “that friend” and we knew it would be awhile. I remember digging mud holes in the backyard and early morning chores to get a go at Zelda on the Nintendo. I remember seeing Star Wars episode one in theaters and loving every minute still too young to compare it to the originals.
It was Zelda and Star Wars that really peeked my interest in storytelling. I loved acting out new Star Wars tales and imagining all the cool game designs I would put into my own version of Zelda. I started drawing with a Nintendo character “how to draw” book. I loved tracing the characters and then making slight adjustments to meet my internal storyboard. Soon, I started drawing my own characters, creating independent stories.
I can’t remember what age I was that I began seriously writing a book. I want to say thirteen, but it may have been earlier. My parents had a strict rule on Sundays. We did not play outside, with friends, or video games, and our movies needed to be religiously themed. I think to a lot of people, this may seem pretty strict, but I couldn’t put a true value on what it did for me. The only reason I ever started writing was because I was sitting in bed on a Sunday with movies I’d seen a hundred times and pen and paper.
Those quite Sunday afternoons I created an entire world. Even today, I go back and wonder how my brain had so much to create, and I envy those technology free moments. Here I am twenty years later doing that same activity on a phone. It’s amazing how things have changed, but here I am. I’m doing something I came to love because of a rule I sometimes hated as a kid.
Writing has become a deep part of my soul. It’s my comfort food. It doesn’t matter what form it comes in. Writing stories, writing blogs, journal entries, random thoughts. Each type gives me just a little bit of escape, even though, just like some comfort foods, taking the time to write comes with some sacrifice.
So if you’ve happened upon my website, that’s what it is. Thoughts, blogs, stories, and sometimes just honest personal moments. It won’t always be grammatically correct. It might not always make sense. Sometimes, it may have too much religion. Sometime, it might go without an update. I write for my own enjoyment and just hope others can find a little joy in it as well.
So take a seat, enjoy. Close your computer and leave. Subscribe and wait for more. Pretend you never saw this site at all. Whatever you do, enjoy life. It’s a gift. Take in the good, leave behind the bad, and make the bad stuff you can’t leave work for your good.
